20th Annual "Battle of Lexington and Concord"

Lexington, MA – The storied rivalry between Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) and Concord Academy (CA) took center stage once again in the 20th annual edition of The Battle of Lexington and Concord on Friday night. With pride, history, and The Drum—the coveted colonial drum trophy—on the line, LCA delivered a commanding performance, securing victories in four of the five contests to claim bragging rights for another year.

The event, which featured five match-ups across JV and varsity levels, provided no shortage of excitement as both schools put forth spirited efforts. CA found success in Varsity Wrestling, while LCA captured wins in JV Girls Basketball, JV Boys Basketball, Varsity Girls Basketball, and Varsity Boys Basketball, ultimately sealing the series and keeping The Drum in Lexington.

JV Basketball: LCA Sets the Tone

LCA’s JV Girls Basketball team wasted no time in asserting their dominance, putting on a defensive clinic and lighting up the scoreboard in a statement victory. The JV Boys followed suit, playing with discipline and execution to secure a well-earned win, pushing LCA ahead in the standings.

Varsity Wrestling: CA Dominates the Mat

Concord Academy’s wrestlers turned in a stellar performance, taking control early and never looking back. The Chameleons showcased their technical prowess and physical dominance, winning several key matches en route to their lone victory of the night. Their energy was unmatched, giving CA an early edge in the overall competition.

Varsity Girls Basketball: LCA Catches Fire

In a highly anticipated battle between two teams tied for second place in the Eastern Independent League (EIL), LCA's Varsity Girls Basketball team put on a shooting display that left the crowd in awe. Their ability to drain shots from beyond the arc and maintain composure in clutch moments proved too much for CA to handle. With the victory, LCA took control of second place in the league standings.

Varsity Boys Basketball: LCA Outlasts No. 2 CA in a Thriller

Despite dealing with injuries, LCA’s Varsity Boys team took on the challenge of facing the No. 2-ranked squad in the EIL. The game was a battle from start to finish, with both teams trading leads and responding to each other’s runs. In the end, LCA found a way to close out the game, securing a crucial win and cementing their dominance in The Battle.

A Night of Competition and Community

While the games provided intense action, the atmosphere was just as electric off the court and mat. Both schools brought their spirit, with the LCA Lions and CA Chameleons engaging in an entertaining dance-off that had the crowd on its feet. The DJ kept the energy high, turning the gym into a true celebration of school pride, sportsmanship, and camaraderie.

With the 4-1 series victory, Lexington Christian Academy retains The Drum, adding another chapter to this historic rivalry. As the teams look ahead to the remainder of their seasons, both schools can take pride in a night that embodied the best of high school athletics—passion, perseverance, and respect.
