In the middle of May, the women’s Division III lacrosse Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America teams were announced by the IWLCA in early May. Amongst the list of highly accomplished lacrosse players was Winsor alumna Madison Lehan ’18. Specifically, Madison was selected as a Division III lacrosse All American Third Team. All American recognition is an honor awarded annually to the best collegiate lacrosse players in the country. After graduating from Winsor, Madison went on to play DIII lacrosse at Tufts University, where she graduated this past spring. At Tufts, Madison was a high-achieving defensive player. This past season, she caused 33 turnovers and 43 ground balls on defense aiding the team in having a 7.29 goal against average. Madison’s defensive skills were essential to helping Tufts win the NESCAC championship this past season and bringing them to the finals in the NCAA tournament. On the Tufts team this year, Madison also got to play alongside two other Winsor alums, Caroline Cromwell ’21, and Alexa Amorosino ’20.
At Winsor, Madison played for the varsity lacrosse team for all four years of high school and led the team each year in goals scored. She made a huge impact on the success of the team. She was the captain of the team in 2017 and 2018, and she won the Lacrosse Cup in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Not only was she a highly skilled lacrosse player, but she was also a three-season athlete. She played varsity soccer, hockey, and lacrosse, and she was captain of all three teams her senior year. Madison served, and still serves, as an inspiration for the community today.
